CME observations using IPS imaging technique

Munetoshi Tokumaru

Abstract

Abrupt increases in solar wind density fluctuations have been detected from 327MHz interplanetary scintillation (IPS) imaging observations of the solar wind.  These IPS events are considered as transient phenomena caused by CME in the IP medium. From comaprison with in situ measurements of solar wind at 1 AU, the IPS events are found to be closely associated with density enhancements, particularly those leading a jump in solar wind speed.
