Photospheric Magnetic Field Variations Related to Coronal Mass

Alejandro Lara

Abstract

In order to search for magnetic changes during coronal mass ejections (CMEs), we follow the photospheric magnetic field evolution of solar active regions during few days arround CME events.  We use magnetograms from the Michelson Doppler Imager (MDI) experiment on board of the Solar Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) to construct the time series of the photospheric magnetic elements.  We found variations in the magnetic flux over small areas inside the active regions. The changes in the magnetic flux are related to flare activity, although, the major variations seems to be related to CMEs.
